Life's lessons
By Henrylito D. Tacio
Regarding Henry
One Friday afternoon, a 35-year-old executive came home from work late, tired and irritated, to find his 5-year-old son waiting for him at the door.
The little boy asked if how much his father earned an hour. "That's none of your business," the father said angrily. "Why do you ask such a thing?" But the boy insisted. So, the father answered, "About 300 pesos an hour."
"Oh," the little boy replied, with his head down. After a minute, he asked again, "Dad, can I borrow 200 pesos please?"
The father was furious. "If the only reason you asked that is so you can borrow some money to buy a silly toy or some other nonsense, then you go straight to your room and go to sleep. Think about why you are being so selfish."
The little boy quietly went to his room and shut the door. Left alone, the father sat down and started to get even angrier about his son's questions. "How dare he ask such questions only to get some money from me?" he thought to himself.
After about an hour or so, the man had calmed down, and started to think: "Maybe there is something he really needs to buy with the 200 pesos and he really doesn't ask for money very often."
The father went to the little boy's room and came in. He asked the little boy if he was already asleep but the boy answered negatively. After talking for a few minutes, he told the boy that he was too hard on him and he gave him the 200 pesos he wanted.
After getting the money, he thanked his father. Then, reaching under his pillow, he pulled out some crumpled up bills. The father saw that the boy already had money and he was mad.
The little boy slowly counted out his money, and then looked up at his father. "Dad, I have now 300 pesos," he said, "Can I buy an hour of your time? Please come home early tomorrow. I would like to have dinner with you."
The anecdote is just a short reminder to all of you working so hard in life. You should not let time slip through your fingers without having spent some time with those who really matter to you, those close to your hearts. If you die tomorrow, the company that you are working for could easily replace you in a matter of days. But the family and friends you leave behind will feel the loss for the rest of their lives.
Finally, here are some thoughts that, according to my source, Andy Rooney, "a man who has the gift of saying so much with so few words," wrote. I took the liberty of just selecting those I think are the most important. "I've learned," he said...
That when you're in love, it shows. That just one person saying to me, "You've made my day!" makes my day. That having a child fall asleep in your arms is one of the most peaceful feelings in the world.
That being kind is more important than being right. That no matter how serious your life requires you to be, everyone needs a friend to act goofy with. That sometimes all a person needs is a hand to hold and a heart to understand.
That life is like a roll of toilet paper. The closer it gets to the end, the faster it goes. That we should be glad God doesn't give us everything we ask for. That money doesn't buy class.
That it's those small daily happenings that make life so spectacular. That under everyone's hard shell is someone who wants to be appreciated and loved. That to ignore the facts does not change the facts.
That love, not time, heals all wounds. That everyone you meet deserves to be greeted with a smile. That no one is perfect until you fall in love with them. That life is tough, but I'm tougher.
That when you harbor bitterness, happiness will dock elsewhere. That I wish I could have told my mother that I love her one more time before she passed away. That one should keep his words both soft and tender, because tomorrow he may have to eat them.
That a smile is an inexpensive way to improve your looks. That everyone wants to live on top of the mountain, but all the happiness and growth occurs while you're climbing it. That the less time I have to work with, the more things I get done.

thank god its saturday. (for a 5 1/2 days working wk folks like me!)
anihoos. bad news. we have decided dat we wont be goin to bali. due to financial contraints. i will rather plan my things well for my wedding, rather than make a mess of everything when i return. most things are getting in place for the wedding, deposits need to be done and more. so i reckon, we shuld skip da entire idea.
i was telling myself this for the past 2 days and nights.
"if u know u don hav enuff money to spend/spare. better not spend wad u have left. when u know u have to pay for some god damn serious shit. and plus some stuffs happened too past few days. im such an angelic sista sometimes. and yea. better do this than be sorry altogether."
i would really wanna apologise to maria for this sudden decision. nevertheless, u guys have fun aite. love u cookie. muah!
well we will have our own fun ere and maybe just maybe if some extra cash come rolling in, we will just head down to KL. and like i said. MAYBE.
today is one of my GFF gf's engagement day. she spend her afternoon having mani and pedi yest. had engagement jitters few days back. (happened to me too. sick and all)... but overall we are all happy for her and yus. both are our polymates. shall see her today. tho not the full GFF will be there tho. :( Tina, be here for their wedding next year ok!! will snap some pics on the event later and will post them by next week.
